About Gravel and SheaGravel and Shea's history began in 1953 when Clarke Albert Gravel opened his private practice. Mr. Gravel (1916-2002) was born in Burlington, Vermont and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Saint Michael's College in 1938 and a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1941. Prior to opening his private practice, Mr. Gravel was elected Chittenden County State's Attorney and held that position until he was elected Judge of Probate Court for the District of Chittenden in 1947. Charles T. Shea joined Mr. Gravel in 1967. Mr. Shea was born in Montpelier, Vermont in 1930. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Holy Cross in 1952, a J.D. from Georgetown University in 1955 and an LLM in Taxation from Boston University in 1961. Mr. Shea served as an attorney with the Internal Revenue Service in Boston from 1956-1961. He subsequently returned to Vermont and served as the Vermont Commissioner of Taxes until 1967. Today, Gravel and Shea is proud to provide its clients legal services in a wide variety of disciplines, including commercial transactions, civil litigation, real estate, intellectual property, land use and environmental regulation, estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, personal injury litigation, employment law, and family law. Our attorneys have excellent credentials and include former judicial clerks, Assistant U.S. Attorneys and practitioners who worked at large law firms in major U.S. cities.
