Gravel & Shea welcomes David E. Peterson as Special Counsel in the Trusts & Estates group at the law firm, focusing on estate planning, probate, and trust administration. He joins Gravel & Shea in January 2024 after fifteen years with boutique Trusts & Estates firms in Massachusetts and Vermont.

“Expert and up-to-date estate planning guidance is essential, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have David step into this important role at the firm,” says Managing Partner, Heather Hammond. “He excels at explaining complicated concepts in clear, understandable terms and we know he will guide clients with an eye for detail as well as sensitivity and candor.”

Peterson will provide expertise to individuals, families, business owners, retirees, and beneficiaries to help structure the transition of their wealth and wishes to the next generation. He will be a resource in the preparation of estate planning documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and advanced directives.

“I look forward to joining Gravel & Shea in January and counseling new and existing clients in all matters of Trusts & Estates,” says Peterson. “I believe that effective planning relies on good communication and understanding of the intricacies of changing laws and circumstances. It will be a privilege to be able to provide this high level of service.”

Peterson attended the University of Massachusetts–Amherst and Boston College Law School. He has earned bar admission in Vermont and Massachusetts and is listed as a Top Lawyer for Trusts and Estates in Boston Magazine for 2021 and 2022.
