Overview
Our real estate attorneys have considerable experience with Vermont’s municipal zoning laws and Act 250, Vermont’s state-wide land use and development law. We have successfully represented many landowners, developers and businesses before Development Review Boards, Planning Commissions, Act 250 District Commissions, Vermont’s Environmental Court and the Vermont Supreme Court, as well as in other local, state and federal venues.
Services & Capabilities
- Pre-project planning to review state and local regulations in an effort to design real estate projects that will satisfy regulatory requirements
- Coordinating and supervising the work of consultants (e.g., civil engineers, traffic engineers, architects, wetlands specialists, landscape architects) that are needed to present a complete permit application
- Negotiating agreements with neighboring property owners, utilities and municipalities, including irrevocable offers of dedication and development agreements
- Navigating and providing counsel on property disputes
- Drafting legal memoranda and motions in support of local and state permit applications
- Assisting clients with the presentation of permit applications before local boards and commissions
- Preparing and presenting cases before the local and state boards/commissions, the Vermont Environmental Court and the Vermont Supreme Court
