Gravel & Shea PC attorney Alfonso Villegas, serves as the Vermont Bar Association’s Diversity Section Chair and as a Member of its Board of Managers. Alfonso was honored to help sponsor and judge the VBA’s annual MLK Essay and Poster Contest for Vermont Middle Schools. At the statehouse, Governor Scott presented the awards. The contest was initiated by Judge Nancy Waples of the Vermont Supreme Court to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and in recognition of the fact that diversity makes us and Vermont stronger. This year’s contest prompt came from Dr. King’s Nobel Prize Lecture, delivered on December 11, 1964, “We have learned to fly the air like birds and swim the sea like fish, but we have not learned the simple art of living together as brothers.”
